All of us might have heard about the story of two friends and a bear. THey always used this story to teach moral lesson on true riendship. Below, I have two versions of stories to read... It is all about friendship.
1. The Bear & The Travelers - AesopTwo travelers were on the road together, when a bear suddenly appeared on the scene. Before he observed them, one made for a tree at the side of the road, and climbed up into the branches and hid there. The other was not so nimble as his companion; and, as he could not escape, he threw himself on the ground and pretended to be dead.. The bear came up and sniffed all around him, but he kept perfectly still and held his breath; for they say that a bear will not touch a dead body. The bear took him for a corpse, and went away.
When the coast was clear, the traveler in the tree came down, and asked the other what it was the bear had whispered to him when he put his mouth to his ear. The other replied," He told me never again travel with a friend who deserts you at the first sign of danger." Misfortune tests the sincerity of friendship.-- The Book of Virtues by Wm. J. Bennett...
Here the second version of the story...
2. Two friends were walking in the forest one day when suddenly they stumbled upon a large grizzly bear who decided that they looked like a good snack. The two started running away when all of the sudden one of them stopped. The other said, "What are you stopping for? Don’t you know the grizzly bear is right behind us?" His friend replied, "I am tying my shoe so I can run faster." At this he couldn’t help but laugh, "What you think you’ll outrun the grizzly?" The friend replied, "I don’t have to outrun the grizzly, I only have to outrun you."
In our selfish society, how often do we act like this "friend." As we try to exist in community, it is essential that we eliminate the self-centered nature that is all too prevalent in our churches today.... Learn lesson from Christ, how often he tried to teach and show to His disciples to not be self centered and selfish. The true friendship and love will complete and form in us when we stop our selfishness and self centered thinking. Be a good friend to your friends and always be there for them...
The True Friendship Will Never End.
